Rally Days at Oaklands Pony Club
At Oaklands, Club Rallies are held on the first Sunday of the month, excluding January.
On Rally days a schedule of lessons is posted on the notice board in front of the Club room. Gear check is at 10.00 am. Rally activities usually include show jumping, cross-country, dressage and games. The day ends around 3.30pm. There is a one hour break for lunch.
For the safety of Pony Club riders and others on Rally Days please ensure;
- Riders walk their horses to and from each lesson
- Cars and floats are parked in designated parking areas only
- A parent or guardian is in attendance during the Rally day for every rider under the age of 17
Information regarding gear check, grading of horse and rider and the importance of membership cards is contained in the Oaklands Pony Club Information and Membership Guide. If you have just joined, please make sure you receive a copy of this from the Club Office on Rally day.
During the year, some rallies follow a slightly different format. In April, we hold an extra rally on Good Friday which usually involves riding out with friends in the historic Woodlands Park, across the road from the Club grounds. In June, the end of the PCAV financial year, our riders compete in various events and annual trophies are awarded. In July, new groups are formed by the DC to take account of changes to our membership and the start of the new financial year. The December Rally is a more festive occasion - riders of all ages dress up and have some fun. (And of course Father Christmas visits.) In all, Oaklands PC organises 12 rallies each year.
